How we calculate

The monthly budget adds rent, utility advances and other recurring housing costs. The move-in budget adds the deposit, prepaid rent, first rent payment, first utility advance and other initial costs. These two totals are not added together. Blank fields are unknown; 0 means you have entered no cost.

This calculator does not check whether charges are lawful or correct, or calculate housing benefits. It is not a complete household budget. Confirm amounts and due dates with the landlord before paying. Do not add a total move-in price on top of its individual parts.

Example: rent is not the whole move-in cost

An example: DKK 8,000 first rent + 24,000 deposit + 8,000 prepaid rent + 700 first utility advance + 2,000 moving costs = DKK 42,700 upfront. Monthly rent of DKK 8,000, utility advances of 700 and other housing costs of 500 give a monthly budget of DKK 9,200. These are illustrative amounts, not typical or recommended charges.
