Free checklist

View the home. Remember what matters.

There is plenty to look at during a viewing. Take the checklist, ask your questions and note what you want to remember.

Your checklist for the viewing.

Tick each item once checked. Note what you want to remember or ask about.

Your address, ticks and notes are saved only in this browser, if allowed. Clear them when finished, especially on a shared computer.

Before you go

Confirm the appointment and key figures.

  • Save the phone number so you can call if you are late.

  • Ask about utilities, the deposit, prepaid rent and the total due at move-in.

  • For example, space for furniture, pets, a lift or the commute to work.

  • Check the owner. If meeting someone else, ask about their right to rent out the home.

During the viewing

Look around and ask about anything unclear.

  • Check windows, exterior walls and the bathroom in particular. Ask about what you find.

  • Do they open and close properly? Notice draughts and noise from outside.

  • Check water pressure and drainage. Ask about ventilation and heating.

  • Are the fridge, cooker, washing machine and any furniture included?

  • Measure where your bed, sofa and table will go. Check storage and sockets too.

  • Ask about neighbours and traffic. Check daylight and shared areas.

  • Clarify pets, smoking, parking, laundry and use of the balcony or garden.

  • What will be fixed before move-in? Get important agreements in writing.

Before you say yes

Review your notes before deciding.

  • Ask whether the lease is fixed-term and whom to contact about defects.

  • Compare the amounts, address and agreements with what you were told at the viewing.

  • A viewing alone does not prove the person may rent out the home. Do not be pressured into a quick transfer.

  • Get answers to anything outstanding. A completed checklist is not approval of the home or contract.

A good viewing is not enough on its own.

See the home, check who you are renting from and read the contract before paying. You do not have to decide on the spot.

The safety advice follows Danish police advice on rental fraud. The checklist is practical help, not an assessment of a particular home.
